Getting a windfall of $$$ after the BK

Here is my question. I was discharged last august. If I were to get a large sum of money do I have to declare it at all to the trustee now? If so how long do I have to wait before I accept the money?

    Thanks

If you win the lottery, you would have to report it. If you get the money any other way, don't accept it until you absolutely have to, and hold your breath. How much money are we talking here?

What Chapter BK?? Guessing Ch 7??

If so, then I think you should be in the clear.

"Proof of claim by a Governmental Unit, other than a claim resulting from a tax return filed under Sec 1308, is timely filed if it is filed not later than 180 days after the date of the order of relief."

But like FOMO suggested, if you can, wait as long as you can.

Just to be on the safe side, call your attny. See what he/she has to say.

If its not lottery winnings, I would take the money quietly at the latest date possible. I would not discuss it with anyone. But thats just me.
