    Secured Card After BK7

I'm coming up on 60 days after my 341 for BK7. I'm starting to think about getting a secured credit card for traveling (hotels and rental car). Using my Visa debit card can be a pain with the holds.

Is it best to jump right in and apply for a secured credit card or wait a few months?

Should I avoid companies that were included in my BK7? I had a Capital Visa and Mastercard, ect. Will they flat say no way?

USAA offers a great secured card option if you are a full member of their bank.

My discharge date was November 2010. I was able to get a Wells Fargo Secured Card 13 months post filing date and Cap 1 secured card 1 year post discharge date.

I strongly recommend joining State Department Federal Credit Union (sdfcu.org). They do not pull credit for joining and I don't believe they pull credit for their secured card/loans if you apply over the phone. It is extremely easy to get and you can always add more funds to increase your credit limit without a hard pull.

I got a secured loan and secured credit card with them a week after CH7 discharge.
