So, two years after filing BK, I checked our credit score today and it is at 632. I absolutely have no idea what to do to get it back up. We really are in need of a new vehicle, and there is no way for us to afford one outright, but with a credit score that poor I don't see us getting a loan.
Any suggestions?
I think you might be pleasantly surprised if you apply for a car loan. My wife filed for Ch 7 and was discharged in Jan 2010 and was able to lease a brand new car after 18 months and another brand new car 29 months after, both with very good terms. Her credit scores were in the upper mid 600s.
She did get 3 credit cards over the past couple years and kept the usage low and always paid on time. Her credit score now is just under 700 but it's slowly climbing.
