How long will this stay on my credit report?

    Hello,

I was just wondering, I haven't paid a credit card since 2001, and on my report it is being reported as charged off. What happened is they apparently sold the debt to a collection agency. I filed for CH. 13 recently, and was wondering if at the end of the ch. 13 (4 years), will these credit cards reporting my account as being charged off still be there? I assume that's one of the reasons my credit score is so low. I just want to start working on making things better now since I started working again and hopefully will get a new start in life in four years with a better credit rating.

They will most likely be there. I still have credit cards on my credit report from 1996.

If you dispute old stuff, it will be pulled off. They can't have it on that long.

What would my reason for a "dispute" be? The information is correct, except the employment part, which still lists the job I quit 10 years ago.

Ezrin, late payments can only be on your report for 7 years.

Make sure you read through the stickies at the top of the "Rebuilding Credit" forum--they're very informative and show you some tips and tricks.

          Good Luck!

Thanks; yeah, I just noticed all those stickies and am reading through them now! Lots of good info there, will probably keep me up for hours.

I have items that were reroprted after I filed. They all show being reported 6/2006. How can they do that just because you file BK?
              My credit scores:
Before Filing: Tr 496, Ex 496, Eq 507

              Today: Tr 618 (+122), Ex 601 (+105), Eq 623 (+116)
