    Providian after BK.

I would like to know if any one knows whether providian extends credit to those who have bk'd them? I know crap one does but how about providian?

Similarly what about Washington Mutual if you BK'd providian? May be i'll just call them and ask

They do, but I have heard that it is better to go ahead and wait until they send you a "pre-approved" letter in the mail!

Well you can try, but heres a quote I read, from another website:

"I applied for providian after my bk and I got a nice letter in the mail stating that they knew who I was and I could basically never get any kind of credit with them so do not think about applying. They said something like although they know who I am and they will not report anything bad to any of the CRA's but I can never get credit through them again. That was nice - not."

That's how I got my Providian card. I got a pre-approved letter. My BK was in '96, so they may be looking at some time passing by too.

BTW....Providian just game me a CL increase to $2K.

This is my opinion and if people want to shoot me for it, then so be it: Why in the world would you want to get credit again from a company that you have already screwed over once before?

06/25/06, reopened a Discover that I closed before my bk, $1500 limit
July 2006, Target Redcard $200 limit
August 2006, Hooters MC $1750 limit

I totally missed the "bk'd them" in the past comment in the first post. I did get a pre-approved offer in the mail from Providian....but I never filed against the company in the past.

It is a very valid question, the reason is simple there are very few companies that would extend credit to people with BK and providian is one of them. There are companies that will extend credit to people that have BK'd them I just want to know if Providian was such company.

I didn't file BK to screw any creditors, I filed it because I was in an accident and I got sued ......Whats done is done they are all behind me, now it's time to start over.

Just to clarify in case I was misunderstood... I did not say that thinking that screwing over the creditors was intentional. Whatever the circumstances leading to a bk, the creditors that lose money are screwed over. That's all that meant.
