Doesnt seem to bad for 1st cards out of BK

    Hey
I have been following this forum for a year now. We filed CH 7 in april 04 and have not applied for any kind of credit since. We have moved out the country for the time being and are moving back at the end of the year.
I got a offer in the mail for Direct Merchents Plat. card and after reading about it i responded online. I did get a response i had been granted a card but nothing on how much or interest.
Well, i get my mail forwarded from the states to here and i got the card the other day and to my surprise it was for $1000 and 19.99%. I was expecting 300 or so so that was pretty cool.
Then my laptop crashed so i applied to Dell for credit and i instantly got approved for $1500 but at 29.99%

I checked my credit score at myfico last month and it was only 663...

Seems like either we got lucky or maybe are with creditors we have no history with...

Either way it seems a good way to start off....
I had tried to apply at Hooters but it wasnt working at the moment, the online part of applying....

Wow good luck with all the approvals but those rates would have killed me.

When you first start getting new credit cards after filing bankruptcy the rates are usually extremely high. After a few months of paying on time, then other offers will start coming in with lower rates.

You have to "prove" yourself to the credit card companies, then they will lower rates or companies with lower rates will offer you cards then....

Its a slow process, but worth it in the long run....

Just REMEMBER, USE THOSE CARDS WISELY.....................

My suggestions are from "personal experience" and research only. Do not consider this as legal advice. Each bankruptcy case is different.
