    After your meeting and beyond

After your meeting with the trustee and once it's all "finalized" do they STILL watch you...i mean do they watch what your spending ...in other words do they "monitor" you as far as what you spend on things and watch your actions so to speak once the plan has been confirmed and finalized?

We filed under old law and just made our 20th payment and have never heard a word from the trustee. We have always paid on time. I contacted them once when we had trouble with them posting a check. Long story, but they were very nice and everything worked out fine. I just now send my check certified mail. Good luck.

We just made our final chapter 13 payment on Dec 29 2006 (after 36 long months) and we are waiting for our case to close.

We were never contacted by our Trustee or by our Attorney during the entire time.

I did on several occasions contact both of them and each time I was treated with respect and they were very helpful. Neither acted like I was a deadbeat or looser for filing Chapter 13 or for asking yet another question.

Our payments were $2700.00 per month on the old plan and were taken directly out of my husbands bi-weekly paycheck and were sent in my his boss. I am not sure if this made a difference or not. Perhaps if our payments were a lot less and they were looking to raise them, it may have been different.

Our bank account was never monitored. We were never hounded for a tax refund (maybe because they knew we never get anything back from Federal or only get a very small amount from State.)

I called both the trustee and the attorney earlier this week to see how long it takes for our case to close. The status on our account shows "ABOUT TO COMPLETE". That is almost the best thing I have ever seen in my life....with the exception of when it will show "COMPLETE".

Good luck and hang in there. If we could do it with 2 high maintenance teenagers, and without getting a divorce over it all...you can too!!!!

We filed under the old law and have made 20 payments to date. The trustee has never bothered us. I had to contact their office about payments that they were sending on my Parent Plus loan to Sallie Mae. Everyone has always been very courteous and polite.
