    Form 22C Question.. Rent

Going over all of this just to make sure I understand it, made me aware that I don't!!
On Form 22C (means test) Line 25

A: The allowable rent in my county: $1263
    B: Rent I pay $1750
C: Difference not less than zero $0 is put in the box to the right of expenses.

I don't understand that zero being there b/c when all expenses are totaled, there is nothing added for the rent. Can someone help me understand that? How can there not be anything added for rent even if I am over the allotted amount?

    Thanks!

Yes, actual expenses are put somewhere else...like on the back page. This is to show how much less you pay than allowed..since you pay more, that figure would be zero. If you paid less, then it would show you with more disposible income. I didn't understand it at all either.

any renters paying over irs allowed...??

I need some help. If you are paying rent that is higher than what is "allowed" what does your Means Test Form 22C Line 25B say?

From the way I am reading it, line a is for irs allowable rent for county. LIne b is avg payment for any debts SECURED BY HOME as stated in Line 47.
      Line c. subtracting line b from a.

does the actual rent I pay go in line b or is that for a mortgage payment that will be dealt with on line 47?

At the end of the test, when all expenses are added up, the allowable rent is not included.

I am so confused.!! If anyone is paying higher rent than allowed and has the info from their form, I would love some help.

Good News: Attorney called back today. Said she didn't think trustee would go for us owner financing right now so not sure where that puts us with the homeowners association. We'll try for a hardship lease.

Also, that trustee basically didn't have objections. (there were only 3) She said in my case, high income, high unsecureds, that was very very rare especially with this trustee.
Now we wait to find out what payment will come out too.

If anyone can help me understand this rent expense area I would really appreciate it.

I wish I could help, Dovette, but I can't. We filed Ch 7, below the Median. Our attny completed B22A, got to Line 15 and stopped. That's all we had to do.

Our rent is higher than the Schedules Allowable and it was listed, in full, on Schedule J. Trustee didn't even bat an eyelash about it.
