    Almost Done!

First post. Good to be almost done.

In October, I should finish my 36 month plan. I sure wish I had known about this forum back in 2004 when I filed. There is a lot of good information here.

So many things have happened to me over this time, that I am thinking of changing my name to Job. But now I can see some light at the end of the tunnel.

Since filing, I became disabled, divorced from wife, Hurricane Katrina destroyed my house, father passed away.......... It's been a long road!

But strangely, I will probably be better off when the Bankruptcy is over in October.

One question I would like to know: My father passed away last September. He had planned to leave me some money and part of his house sale, but before he passed away (he was terminal, so we prepared) we made a will that directed that the proceeds from the sale of his home be divided as 2/3 to his wife, and 1/3 to my sister, so that I received nothing. Although, my step-mother is "keeping" 1/3 to give to me after discharge in October. In addition he had some CD's for me that we changed to my step-mothers name before his death.

Was this OK? I did not want the court to take money that my father worked so hard for, due to my ex-wife's stupid spending. Things are going through probate court right now.

Sorry for your loss. My old boss (who just passed away in January from cancer) used to always tell me - " I like people who have been kicked around a little by life, it makes them interesting." Those word helped me through a pretty dark time in my life which sounds similar to your situation.

I lost my father to cancer, got married and she shortly became unemployed, had trouble at work, got divorced, then filed 13 all in about a three year period. Crazy how life will seem to pick on people at times.

Congrats on making it to 36 months! As far as the "estate planning" you should be fine, just keep it on the down low, dont advertise it and dont take any money until all the dust has settled on your 13.
