Hi,
I got brave and looked at my credit report.
Eeep.
I have a judgement, which I knew about, of course -- it was for a personal loan with Citifinancial. I don't think it's a lien on my property....how would I find out for sure? It was just a loan, not a 2nd mortgage.
I have one of THEM, too, also with Citifinancial. Arrears are being paid thru the plan, the regular monthly payment paid by me, by money order, in the branch, every month.
Anyway. Citifinancial did not file a claim for the personal loan. But there is this judgement. When my plan is over, what happens to the judgement?
I have another judgement -- boy, were / are my finances a MESS or what?? -- but they filed a claim. It is the state in which I live, for old tuition from the state university I attended. They did make a claim, and it's listed as priority. So that one will be paid in full, so I understand that judgement goes away. I don't think that one is secured by real estate, either. Or are all judgements secured in some way by the real estate you own?
I guess I will call my attorney, but wanted to ask the folks here about judgements and claims and such. I would hate to get thru nearly 5 years of payments only to have a loan of some $20K survive as a judgement.
Thanks for any insight.
