I am in the process of relocating to Arizona because I have recently been laid off of work with a great severance package (6 months and outsourcing.) My current pay is $65K.

My sister and I have been living together for five years and should would like to relocate with me. She has recently filed for Bankruptcy because of credit card issues. Her court date is 5/26.

I am relocating 7/1 and would like her to come even rent free. However, I am uncertain if her bankruptcy would prove an issue. Obviously neither of us would be working, but I am planning on a short term lease since I am in the process of selling property. My credit is so so, but in the recent year has been good.

Any advise?

If you lease from an apartment community, 99% of the times it's standard protocol to check the credit report of all applicants over the age of 18. But if you're going to lease the apartment soley under your income and your credit isn't bad, you should't have a problem leasing the majority of apartments. Some property management companies, may still require you to make a security deposit because of your sister's credit.
