SSI Benefits/Food Stamps

Because of my wife's disability and our lower income, she has been encouraged to apply for government assistance by her caregivers.

She is part of our chapter 13 bk.

Can she receive benefits while in Chapter 13?

If with this event - her disability - and reduced income you fall under your state's median income threshhold, try to change your Chapter 13 into a Chapter 7, IF your pay only is also below the median income level.
Govt, federal or state benefits/assistance has nothing to do with bankruptcy

I agree, lots of people receive benefits. They don't make any difference on your case, but it will be counted as "income" so as long as it doesn't make a significant difference... which I'm sure it won't... it should be fine.

I don't know much at all about SSI, but food stamps are awarded based on household size and household income. Worth checking into.
