If we use our tax refund for fun...

... how long should we wait to file? We're getting around $4500 and plan on using part for a downpayment on a car, the rest will be for season football tix, travel, tuition. Obviously, we won't have receipts for a new roof or car repairs, etc.

Are we better off to cash the check and pay with cash vs. our debit card?

    Thanks.

I don't know the answer to this, but you will be able to do all that with 4500$? Season tickets here are a lot.

We're in Cleveland, home of the Browns! We're high and two tix are only $800. Usually end up selling most, so the couple games we end up going to are usually "free" or close to it!

Thinking I can draw out cash over a few months to cover those, but not sure how I'm going to explain the $1100 air ticket or $1100 tuition!

We don't really want to do anything that would jeopardize having our case dismissed, but this trip is a once in a lifetime opportunity!

wow, so you're willing to jeopardize having your case dismissed over a trip?
I'm sure it it does get dismissed, you'll be kicking yourself for choosing that, esp. when the creditors all get set loose to sink their teeth back into you! LOL
        I surely hope that doesn't happen....but be careful :-)

Chargers fan here. There is a long waitlist for season tickets. You either have to know someone or wait until someone dies/or no longer wants the tickets.

As for what you should do, I wouldn't do anything because it could cause your case to be dismissed.

I'm not asking what we should do with our refund.... I'm asking how long we should wait to file if we do what we want with the refund? 60 days? 90? 6 months? Going to ask our atty today her thoughts.

Our attorney told us to use ours and THEN File BUT to only use it for necessities such as clothing, formula, diapers and to keep all receipts.

It may be different where you are but I would be really careful! Especially about taking a trip.
