    Two Payments Remaining!!

We just put payment 34 of 36 in the mail today. It's been a long three years. We filed under the old law and it took eight months to be confirmed. It was totally worth the legal fees, sleepless nights and general nail biting and teeth grinding.

During this time, my DH was fired from his job, decided to go back to school and will graduate May 2009 with an associates degree in Nursing from the local Community College.

Congratulations! I am only in my 1st year of a 5-year plan, so the end is quite a way off for me, but it's good to hear from people who have made it all the way through.

My hubby is also having problems at work, he's been off on disability since the beginning of March and due to cuts where he works, might not have a job when he's well enough to go back to work, yikes! But somehow we've been managing to get by for now. It helped that we had a lot of wiggle room in our CH 13, which is why I haven't contacted the trustee about changing our payments while hubby is on reduced disability pay, figure he might realize how lenient he was in the 1st place and our payments might go up instead of down!!! Plus we've only made 9 payments so far, so don't think it's time to rock the boat yet. The one thing that has really helped is that we're not spending all the gas money on his work commute, which almost makes up for the 30% reduction in pay!

Again, thanks for posting about your successful finishing of you plan (almost). Good to hear that CH 13's are do-able, even with job losses!

Awesome job. And congrats to hubby, from one RN to an almost RN. The healthcare field is wide open right now. Nursing shortages all over the place. After a few years of experience, if you guys want to travel around the country, he can make even more money than he will when he graduates.

              Me too! Done in 9/08.

I sure wish people knew that BK isn't the "easy" way out - it's been a hard road for me as well. BUT --- light at the end of the tunnel!

Congrats!!! We are in close to the same boat...

I just sent in my 36th payment and have 4 more left... I have about 2k in savings so I might try to pay off early and get done in two or three months. I am so ready! I really want to try and bank my 13 payment for a while so that I can have a really nice savings cushion. It is going to be soooooo nice to have that extra amount in savings account at the end of the month and not owe anyone anything!!!!

I only have 2 payments to go also! While I am happy, I am also nervous for some reason. I just have this fear that they will do the final audit and decide that I need to pay more, or for another year, etc. Can they do anything like that? I am SO ready to be done, and out of it! I am so much more financially responsible now....I just want to start the next chapter of my life!

Congrats to all you guys who are in the home strech and are winding your 13's down. Its good to hear the success stories, I mailed payment #1 of 60 yesterday so hearing them makes me feel a bit better.
And a big congrats to your husband for managing to go back to school while yall were in your plan, that's quite an accomplishment.
                      The future is unwritten. J.S.

I was like you for a while wondering about the audit, but it's actually not an audit in the way you'd think. It's an audit of themselves basically. The trustee makes certain that the funds have been distributed properly to whomever is owed and they verify that information, it's not a check on your finances.
