Why not? For one thing, like contract for deed, you are not under any obligation to rent to own and you are paying like double anyway. If you can't afford the item, call them to pick it up. READ what you sign!!!! 'Hub

rent-to-own isn't a credit agreement...until you make your last payment, they technically own the stuff you are renting.
However, I would STRONGLY recommend against doing this. If you need a couch, check out craigs list or postings on community boards in the library, churches, apartment offices, etc. to find CHEAP furniture...for what you would pay the rent-to-own store for a month or two, you could have one second-hand...
The rent-to-own stores are NEVER the right choice.
