Just received notice it was filed!

I just received notice in the mail today that our Chapter 13 was filed. Our 341 is August 7th - now I'm kind of sick to my stomach, although I'm not sure why. It can't be any worse than it's been for that past year.

This is a very normal feeling. At least you know that the work is in progress. Try not to worry about the 341; most go just fine and are over in just a few minutes. There are plenty of posters here that have gone through the same thing and can give you plenty of moral support. So try not to worry. (I know! Very tough not to do!)

Just be sure that you and your spouse have your picture I.D.s--typically the driver's license, and your social security cards. The Trustee will ask to see them. If you have lost the S.S. card, take steps now to get a replacement. Also, if you and your spouse use different names, like my DH and I do, take a copy of your marriage license as well.

    Good luck to you.

My DH doesn't have his SS card and our attorney is aware of that. She told him to bring his original W-2 and the trustee would be satisifed with that, along with his driver's license of course. I did look online about getting a replacement SS card for him, but it takes longer than we have, so I guess we have to trust our attorney???? I'll try not to stress as I have read so many other posts about the 341 hearing with most of them being okay.

I like that, such a positive attitude~I am more of a "the glass is half-empty"
Last night I said something to my hubby like "Gee, it's going to be a loooong 5 years" and his response (glass half-full kinda guy) was, "it's only 60 months!"...

Thats exactly how I look at it, its only 60 months. Honestly we have paid on credit cards for most of our 20 year marriage. I am so sick of debt going nowhere and scraping money together just to make minimum payments. It just seems like a 5 year loan to pay off all our debt. I think thats a great deal!!!! A year ago if someone offered me a loan for $70,000 to pay off all our debt for less than $500 a month we would have jumped at the chance. Thankfully we now have a second chance and will be debt free in 59 months. Filing for a 13 has been the biggest relief for us. It truely has. When I made my first trustee payment I felt a big unexpected rush of, YES!! We are on our way!!!

Thanks guys! I'm sure everything will be fine and I feel like you AtWits, if someone would have offered us a five year loan to pay off our debts, we too would have jumped at the chance! I'm trying to look at it like a car payment (well .... a large car payment). Plus, I told DH that in five years our vehicles will also be paid off and we will be debt free except the mortgage and everyday life expenses. I'm kind of nervous about mailing a payment to the trustee - it's due July 20th - prior to the 341 meeting. I guess they know how to keep track of things??? Also don't want to have the payments taken out of our paychecks as we don't want our employers to know what's going on. I feel it is no one else's business but ours and our creditors of course.
