    Retaining a Lawyer question

I have a question on the "retaining a lawyer" process.
I am looking to file soon. I have not been to any consults yet.
I previously filed 6 years ago and I know I can only file a 13.
I purchased a car, and that purchase is haunting me becuase I am worried about filing so soon after my purchase.
I do not have the money to pay a lawyer. I am still robbing peter to pay paul to avoid the CC's from calling me. I can't handle the thought of the calls, I went through it before.
I want to stop making payments, but I feel I shouldn't file so soon after a major purchase like the car. My old car was old and done and would not make it through a BK.
Could someone explain what some options may be if I contact a lawyer, could I get the calls stopped if i "retain" a lawyer till I save enough money to file? Any advice any ideas. I know I need to just make the call. I am just scared they will tell me the car needs to go back. I don't want to give the car back. I can pay the car.
If I stop paying the CC's I could file in Oct and I would have made several payments on the car. I know I do not need to answer the phone. But it is horrible. My last BK I didn't pay for almost 4 months and it was a horrible experience. Thank you.

Hi there and welcome to this forum.
You will be fine with the new car payments, our attorney suggested that we get a new vehicle and have a few payments under our belt before we file.
As for retaining a attorney and having him/her handle the calls, you would really need to ask them. When I retained my attorney, she said to send all the calls her way....
If you know you are going to file, you need to start living on a cash-only basis, stop paying your credit cards and SAVE that money for an attorney! Also, you'll need to keep records of everything you spend money on, make a list; you'd be surprised how much you spend on things that were automatically billed to your cc's.
Make sure you interview 3-5 attorneys before you retain one.

    Good Luck!
