    Is that light I see?

Found some decent apartments that are 850 a month... That's quite a bit more than I pay now, but they're all bills paid, so it might actually even out. What do y'all think?

As in the rent includes water, sewer, electricity, garbage, cable? If so, it sounds good.

All of that except cable, which I'm considering shutting off entirely, or at least dropping to basic.

My apartment complex has cable service built ito the monthly rent amount. Just yesterday a local TV station ran a "test" to see if the February change to digital will work - and it did/passed.
Regarding your comment - except cable........ - hard to do if the whole apartment complex is wired for cable, and included in the rent.

Yah. I did the math and at 850, that is EXACTLY how much my original rent plus electric gas and water is set on my plan. So I'm breaking exactly even. No loss in the budget, no gain.

There is no point in worrying about winter in Texas - it's only 2 weeks long!

Well, I guess I got my hopes up too soon. They only had two left and I wouldn't have been able to get out there until Saturday.. All are leased out now.

It snowed in 04 and almost again last year.

                          more snow stories

A few years ago we went to Galveston for Christmas, spent the night, etc. There was enough snow to build snowmen on the tops of cars/trucks driving around the city. We had to be VERY careful walking outside as the sidewalks were slippery, and we did a couple people fall. So, even in the warm states, snow must fall.

                            Is that light I see?

Yoour question reminds me of the light from the train while standing on the railroad tracks. When I was a boy I actually stood on the railroad trestle and watched the train approach; blowing its horn. As the train entered the trestle space I decided to leap off the tresle into the water below just like they do in the movies. My leap was a 20 foot drop into the water below; the water was only about 2" inches deep!

Think about your find and the questionable nature of utilities. At least your worries will be taken care of and you know exactly what your cost are each month. I would jump on this; it sounds like a great deal!

Be proud of yourself for finding a solution in such a short period of time.

                              Okay, update!!

That apartment fell through, but maybe that was a blessing. Found another one yesterday.. Two bedroom, two bath 1045 sq ft... $835 a month, all bills paid!! AND it's closer to my job... No more 1.5 hr commute for me!! Anyway I called just before they closed last night and found out it was available, and was at their office before they opened this morning to look and fill out the application. It's move-in ready and VERY cute. We put down the deposit and will hopefully be moving in on Monday... So I might be MIA for a while. Thank you guys for the support, hopefully this all goes through.
