Changing job voluntarily to lower salary

I'm in a job that I absolutely hate but it pays extremely well. If I were to change jobs, I would expect to make half of what I do today.

Once I am in my Ch13 plan, am I obligated to remain in a job (or another job) that pays what I made at the onset of the plan? I know if I involuntarily lose my job and take a lower paying one, my plan can be modified.

I brought this topic up with my attorney and he said I was expected to maintain the salary. Not really the answer I was looking for and I'm not sure if he really understood my question.

    Opinions?
Filed CH13 12/31/08, abandoned March 09 after losing job.

Ch7 Filed March 2010. 341 Meeting April 2010. Discharge and Case Closed July 2010.

Your attorney was BSing you. People are losing their good paying jobs every day and have to find another one. No trustee will ever question why you went from a $50,000 job to a minimum wage job.

I was wondering the same thing. My job is getting pretty hectic as we have bought another company and my boss expects me to pick up the ordering process from the other company as well as my current duties. I straight out told her I could not handle it but she was not budging and neither was I. I have been there for 8 years and she told me she would understand if I looked for another job. I don't plan to but I think they may let me go because of this. I am hoping this will not affect my Chapter 13 but I may have to find something else if this gets too stressful. I know my pay will be much less somewhere else. Would I be able to file a chapter 7 if I have to change jobs and my salary winds up putting me below the median to file a Chapter 7?

Hey, could be the best thing to happen to you. Get fired, take unemployment for a while, go C7, and get it all behind you. 'Hub

Just my opinion, but I don't think I would take the chance of voluntary quitting a job, taking a lower paying job, and expecting the trustee to lower you payments. I understand it is a slow process to change things, probably got to go in front of a judge, and you will definatly incure additional attorney fee's.
