    Chicken or the Egg?

Which comes first? I'm in a 13. My attorney tells me to go to a dealer and get a purchase agreement on a car. Price of the car, how much down, amount of the monthly payment and for how many years. Normal stuff. Then I bring that back to the attorney and he sends it to the trustee for approval.

The dealer tells me that before Ford Credit or any other bank will approve me, they need to see a letter from the trustee stating that the bankruptcy court will allow me to incur the debt.

    Anyone have a simlar experience?

Oh yes, I remember that well. You need to speak to someone at the dealership who understands BK 13.

They should be able to give you a conditional pre-approval. (Conditional on the fact that you obtain trustee approval).
You can't have your cake and eat it too. But you can dip your finger in the bowl and lick the icing
