My attorney wanted $1000 up front and then rolled the rest into the plan. I had the money and it was a good deal for both parties. He has been nothing but fair with me and he has done an excellent job with my case. I think the previous poster said it best, go with who you think will best serve you.

Are attorney fees always added into plan payment?

Good advice HHM, as with the last attorney I had, they dropped me, they never even really gave me a consultation, just a phone interview. Fly by night, Chapter 7 Shop, take my money and fill out the petition. I could do that myself. They got so sick of me calling and asking questions, they dropped me and I am now looking for a new one.
So you really think I shouldnt worry about the creditors suing?

HHM is 100% correct. IMO you want an attorney who knows the law and has a good working relationship with the trustee. The attorney I work for has both - and she and her paralegal are both excellent in client communication - which you really need when you are filing BK. It is way more important to have an attorney who knows what they are doing and can communicate with you than to have an atty who will roll the fee into the plan.Originally posted by HHM View PostYou are probably over estimating your risk of being sued. Being sued, in the big picture, is not a problem. Base your attorney selection on who you think will best serve you, not on their fee structure.
When you go to a consultation, bring a list of questions that are important to you. Remember, when you hire an atty, they work for you. A good reputable atty won't mind you asking a lot of questions in the consultation - they will actually appreciate it.Since hiding my head in the sand for the past few years didn't work...

I already have a list of questions, and multiple consults scheduled, I only scheduled with bankruptcy only attorneys, ones that have practiced here in my state for more than 10 years, and ones that actually answer the phone. Thanks for the advice, but I was already taking these things into account, I want a knowledgeable attorney.
Anyone know how to check on a attorney's reputation, is their a website with complaints?
