Will bank of america cancel my checking account in a chap 13 even if I have no cc's or loans through them? I would really like to keep the account because I am in chex systems and would not be able to get another one.

I am a novice too but from what I read, usually it is credit unions who will freeze your account you have with them if you owe them money. Other banks leave you alone. And since you don't owe them money, I don't think that it would be a problem. I sure someone more experienced can answer this but this is what I have read so far. I think that you will be 100% fine if you do not owe BOA currently... they have no reason to close your account.Comment

Do not count on any bank leaving your money alone. If you do a search on the word "freeze" you will find some horror stories.Comment

small local banks may still issue you a new checking account, even while being listed in chex systems.Comment
