When to file?

Planning on filing ch13 (no sooner than October). In the past 2-3 weeks... I've used my credit card to purchase school clothes for my two kids (about $400) and a vacuum cleaner ($125). I also use, currently, use my credit card to help cover the cost of gas and some groceries. I am current on my payments and will be making all the normal payments I've been making come August 1st. After that (DH and I only get paid once a month), I will NOT be making any more payments to CC's or 2nd mortgage (planning on lien strip).

Considering all that.... how long (if at all) should we wait before filing?

If you are sure you are going to file stop making any payments to any unsecured loans today and stop using your credit cards.

Other than that, it sounds like you don't really have to wait. You may want to wait a bit after you stop paying to build up a little bit of a savings (up to the amount you can excempt in your state).
