Hi! Been nosing around here a while but just now registered to ask a question. I filed a Chapter 13 a few days before the rules changed. I have a lease car that has been 'visiting friends' for a while. I know that the court has sent out the notices to my creditors, and I know that there is an automatic stay for the car. Before I bring it home, how do I protect it? I got a call yesterday at home from "your friendly repo man here", and he asked if I was planning on turning the car over to him. He's been looking for it. I told him about the Bankruptcy, but he didn't seem to know much about eitehr bankruptcy or that I had filed. He asked me what this had to do with the car. He said he was going to call the leasing compnay and call me back. Of course he didn't call back.
My question is how do I keep him from taking the car? I'm afraid I'm going to bring it home and he'll take it - how can I stop him? What he can and can't do doesn't seem to be an issue with him.
