How has BK affected your taxes and what

changes have you made to avoid oweing?

We lien stripped a 2nd and a 3rd mort and we forfeited our timeshare. These were all interest bearing deductions for our taxes

our medical spending is down this year...which is a good thing

our general spending is down this year, but we both purchased new cars....well one is a lease...so that is one car for a sales tax deduct

the only thing that is helping us is that my income was also cut in half this year.

in the end I think we are going to owe the IRS next year...less than $800 or so...by my very rough calcs using this years TaxCut....

SO....what changes have you made to help your taxes after BK??? just curious

We always got a refund but the one thing I did do was change my dependent status. Starting claiming full amount so that my refund, if any, would be minimal. Still have interest deductions from mortgage and rv so am hoping that I will break even or get some back. Currently my trustee has not requested that refunds be turned over and was able to keep this years. Our second was stripped but it amounted to less than $10K so there wasn't much interest to claim at the end of the year anyway. Will have to see how things work out when I file this year as this is our first year in.

We are already claim low dependant status and we have always gotten very minimal returns....so losing these was just enough to throw us over for this year at least.
I did change my DH 401k to lower taxable income but that only affects 4 more checks this year. so much else I can do....
trying to do what donations I can afford.
