    Record of Filing.

    Hello;

    Could someone tell me if the length of time that a Chapter 13 BK stays on a person's record is longer (or shorter) than a Chapter 7 (ie. since Chapter 13 involves a payment plan of 3-5 years until Discharge - does the timeline begin after Discharge for Credit Reporting)?

    Thanks.

    The time begins at filing.

    A ch. 13 stays on your credit for only 7 years, while a ch. 7 stays for 10 years. So depending on the length of your plan, you only have 2-4 years left for it to report after finishing payments.
    Get mortgage modified: DONE! 7 months of back interest payments amortized, payment reduced over $200/mo
    (In the 'planning' stage, to file ch. 13 if/when we have to.)
