    Direct TV

Here's one I have not seen on the board before. My wife and I filed for our Chapter 13 in October 11th we had our meeting in December and our budget accepted. My wife had an old account from TN with Directv that we included in our bankruptcy. I had a current account with Directv in florida we have had it for about 6 months, just the basic programming, I have made all the payments on time and currently owe them no money. Came home from work and the service was cut off. I called and was told that because my wife has an account that has been included in bankruptcy that they have lumped our two separate accounts together and that if I want my service restored I would have to wait until the bankrupcy is discharged or pay my wifes account off. I think I'm going to have to contact my attorney first thing in the morning but I have a feeling that this is going to take a while to resolve. Any suggestions on how I might handle this. Thanks

    Get DishNetwork

That's what I did when DTV turned off my service.

I'd call the lawyer...Unless there's something written in the contract regarding this, they have no right to do this...but of course, the lawyer will explain it...

I doubt that Dish would connect you. it may work like cellular phones. Life without Directtv? Hard, very hard, very, very, very hard. the problem is that in BK you can't favor one creditor over another. Honestly though, I'd try to pay them, still leave them included, say nothing but bring them current. That is ONLY me, I like my satellite, Thank God for the 20th & 21st century!

it is doubtful that they will reconnect you but you could try to get someone on the phone higher up and see what happens, but very doubtful as they matter consider and rightfully under the law, the two accounts as deceptive, just not sure.

Why wouldn't they?? They connected me after DTV shut me off. They didn't run a credit check, or make me sign any contracts. I ordered, they installed for free, and they bill me monthly. It's cheaper then DTV was and I have 4 TV's hooked up now instead of just 1 w/ DTV.

I would check into that about Direct TV. we had Direct TV for our internet, and one they they up and stopped providing the service, and told their customers we had 30 days to find a new provider?? NICE huh?? well I refused to pay the bill, and I had a balance with them. When I was getting all my accounts ready for BK, I called them to get the exact amount, and they said I owed nothing. Since they did that to everyone, they are going to eat the cost. I asked them, if I was to ever decide to start up service with them say for the TV would they activate the old account and they said no.

            good luck

Viper, just thought it might work like a cell phone. I know that here Comcast Cable pulls a report even for the 15.00 a month deal. Of course in SoFla. you have to show ID 90% of the time, sometimes even when using a debit card. They figure everyone here is a scammer. Down here, you don't pay one Cell service, you can't get another without a big deposit. May be different in other parts of the country.

After Wilma when all of our Dishes were down the guy across from us got the four room deal with Dish and they pulled his report. DTV was taking to long to come out.
