    another tax question!!!

I filed my taxes online, filed bankruptcy in oct 2005. I went online later to check the status of my reund. It popped up "there was an error processing your return" So i called the irs. They said that my bank info was wrond and i would get a check on feb 17. On feb 20, i got a letter stating "there was a problem with your power of attourney. a check will be mailed to you in 1-3 weeks" At this point i called the irs again. they said the check was mailed feb 17. i still have not received the check. I was never told by the trustee or my lawyer that they wanted the refund (in louisiana). My question is....can the IRS send the check directly to the trustee? Or can i hope that this is just a case of a very slow mailman.......

I've never signed a "power of attny" with the IRS for my refund.

Did you sign one seperate or do you have on in place otherwise???

Especially this time of the year.

The IRS hires a bunch of people to fill in to answer the phones as people call in with questions. You may or may not get someone who knows their butt from a hole in the ground. You may or may not get the right answer. And if you make an error on your taxes based on what one of their reps told you on the phone, it's still your fault.

I can see the error in the Bank acct info. Maybe you gave them a wrong number in the routing or acct portion. Is there any way to check on that to be sure??

The power of attny thing,......... That is really wierd.

Did you owe back taxes when you filed the 13? Does the IRS know you are in a BK?

In our case, I looked on Pacer to see whom the bk courts had notified of our bk. It did show the Indiana Dept. of Revenue, however nothing about the IRS.

I did not owe any back taxes. However, the trustee already has my check apparently she has the irs send them all directly to her. I logged into my case on her website and there was my money 2327$. Thank you all fo ryour comments
