Very smart sinking! This was mentioned on another thread weeks ago about filing pro se or hiring an attorney. I said then as I feel now. Everyone considering filing should do plenty of research, see what others expenses are in your area and talk to several lawyers. File as if you are filing pro se, but hire a good lawyer in case you have a problem she can best defend you and scare the creditors right back! Don't just rely on an attorney and go home and wait or you will be very sorry.

Sounds like you are a Farmer. There's different provisions in the New Law for Family Farmers and Fishermen. You will probably be handled totally different than most of us here.
We're not full-time farmers. I have a full-time job and my husband owns his own business. We live on a farm and raise cattle and horses. We do file a farm schedule for our taxes, though. I'm sure we won't be Chapter 12.

I was very generous when listing my expenses. The paralegal said she didn't see a problem with anything but the clothing - she thought the attorney might lower that one a little. A girl's gotta try, though, right? I jacked up the transportation quite a bit when I heard yesterday that gas is expected to easily top $2.75 this summer. I'm 20 miles one way from my job and the hubby is 20 miles the other direction to his shop.

I really appreciate hearing everyone's experiences.

We also filed a chapter 13, which was confirmed in Sept. 2005. Our attorney was smart enough to submit a budget which had some "wiggle room" in it. So far we have been able to save a few dollars every pay day for emergencies, but that being said, we have to follow a budget and make everything gets paid as we have mapped out. There is not $$ left over for extras, but I rather put the $$ that I do have in the bank. Chapter 13 is not easy, but I just keep telling myself every month when the payment is made to the trustee that it is one step closer to financial freedom. Good luck to everyone who is in the "Chapter 13 Club."
