Letter from IRS cancelling Form 2848

    Good evening,

I'm in the 10th month of a 60 month chapter 13. I received a letter yesterday from the IRS stating that they received a letter from my attorney stating they would no longer be representing me and that form 2848 for tax period 12-31-2000 to 12-31-2011 would be cancelled. Does anyone have any clue what this is about? I have not been given any notification that my lawyer has dropped me as the 13 is going just fine.

    Thanks in advance./

You'll have to call your attorney about this one. The form is a power of attorney form, something your attorney had you sign giving them the right to pull your tax returns (amongst other things). Either the IRS is wrong about your attorney quitting, or your attorney only specified it for one year (which isn't a big deal).

I'm not an attorney. My replies are merely suggestions or observations, not legal advice. As always, consult with an attorney before making any decisions.
