need a car!!! lease ran out!

Hello, first let me say how happy i am to find this sight. we are in year 3 of our 3 year chapter 13. what a ride it has been. so glad to hear from others who are in the same boat. we just had to turn in our chrysler lease and wre all set to lease a new vehicle, we got the order from the trustee but then chrysler would not give us another lease. our order says it approves a 27 month lease of a chrylser commander (OR SIMILAR VEHICLE). What do we do now? just shop around at other dealers, ford, gm, etc???? I am so embarassed to have to go in and say ok here we are would like a vehicle but here is our court order. will you please give us a lease? we were going to just try and buy a cheap car but my husband read the fine print and the order says we must submit a copy of our new lease agreement. what if we can't get anyone to give us another lease? then does the trustee expect us to give them the extra $$$$ that we would be spending on a lease? meanwhile i need to have a car so i can keep making my bankruptcy payments. please and advie would be helpful!!!

I've read on here that ford motor credit is bk friendly. I'd go for an escape hybrid if you want an suv.

LittleJuanito just got approved thru Toyota Financing.

There's a thread down in the lower portion under the "Buying a Car" section.

      Maybe they can help you??!!

If you do decide to buy instead of lease, besure to get it approved thru the Trustee before you sign the papers.....

Buy a Ford, or another American car. Don't send your money to the Japs.

            That's all we own,.......... American.

I was just trying to offer alternatives.

Us BK folk aren't in the position of being able to pick and choose, so sometimes we gotta take what we can get.

Broke&blue, please keep us updated on what your results are. Littlejuanito did get approved post-chapter 7, but I have yet to find any posts on this site of anyone getting financed WHILE IN a chapter 13 repayment plan. I'm very interested in finding out who will work with peope like us.

Yes, do let us know what you find. I know that we will have to get a car before our Ch. 13 is over and done with and our son needs one to get to work and school. Right now we're saving every penny we can, but know we will have to do something eventually.

                Meanwhile, I'll check around, too.

                Good luck!

I don't think they make a all American car anymore. Nissans are made here in Tennessee. My chevrolet truck says made in Canada.

thanks to all of you. right now i have a mercury dealership working with me to see if they can get me approved. i mean why in the heck didn't my damn attorney tell us that even though the trustee approves that we will probably not get anyone to finance us. As far as American or not my husband is 100% union but at this point in our life even he has agreed that we will take anything. the economy has hurt us so bad that our loyalty is wearing thin. i will let everyone know how we do next week. once again it is so nice to be able to talk to others who are going thru this. i have felt like such a low life!!!!

I hope you are able to get the car you need and want.

We considered getting a car while we were in chapter 13 (later decided against it) but the stipulations from our trustee indicated that a truck or SUV was not allowed,
so I was a little surprised that yours approved that. Maybe it just depends on the trustee? I hope it all works out for you!

my attorney advised us that we must have a lease that has a lease payment around the one we were replacing. we had a dodge durango. if it would have been up to us we would have tried for a very small car with a very small lease payment but the attorney said that the trustee would then try and take to extra$$$$$ that we were saving by going to a smaller lease.God what a bunch of vultures.
