We're nearly a year into our Chapter 13 and except for the quarterly communications from the Trustee (which make me nervous), we hardly notice. We have more money in our budget than before filing. Not having a credit card is still scary because emergencies can arise, but not being able to charge up anything we want isn't a big deal. We're learning that we have more than enough, and if we want something else we need to save for it.

As for the dollar stores...the everyday millionaire shops there, too. There's a book called "The Millionaire Next Door" that studies the habits of normal people who have built wealth. They drive old cars, live in modest homes, shop around for deals...and live happily ever after. Let them judge; they can work even after social security kicks in. I'm going to retire!
