Credit Card Companies and my bank account

OK -- I made my last credit card payment on 10/15. I have now missed payments on 3 different cards and they are starting to call us. Phone calls I can handle, caller id is a blessing.

But my question / concern is this. We always paid our credit card bills online. These were not automatic draft payments, we had to actually log and pay the amount, just like an echeck I guess.

My concern is this, all of these companies do have my checking account information. Can they take money from my account without my authorization?

Please tell me I am just being paranoid.

    You are just being paranoid....

They cannot debit your checking account.

Now, if they were to sue you, get a judgment against you, THEN they could debit your bank account, but you are many many months from them even thinking about filing a law suit.

We always paid on-line too. You don't have anything to worry about as far as them taking money out of your account for payment. We were 7 months behind when we filed. They did call a lot, but they didn't touch our checking account. Now, no one calls our house. It is so peaceful!

You really don't have anything to worry about, but if and when you do file bk, I would personally empty your bank account first and go into straight cash for the duration of your filing until discharge. But thats just me.
