Need to buy an appliance, should I???

My 10 year old chest freezer, which was given to me years ago -- has died.
I NEED another freezer. Since I have not paid any cc bills this month, I have the money in my bank account. I found a cheap one for $169.00. I am actually afraid to buy it though.

We have not actually filed yet, just had an initial consultation with my atty. Will probably file end of the month, or first of Dec. We are living on a cash basis right now, that is "wierd" for me. I am so use to doing without, or charging everything. Now that we are not paying 1500.00 a month in minimum cc payments, we actually have money for living expenses. Anyway -- back to my original issue.

I dont know if I am ok to buy the freezer or not. What do you think?

If you "need" it AND have the cash, buy it. In the large scheme of things, $169.00 is relatively insignificant vis-a-vis your bankruptcy.

Thanks for the reply -- I feel like I am analyzing every purchase I am making. I have the cash. But I almost feel like its not my money because I am so scared of the trustee questioning what I am spending.

Its funny because when I was charging everything -- I didnt think twice, and that "was" someone elses money.

Anyway -- just more random thoughts.

        Don't worry about it...

Now, if you were going to go out and spend $1,500 on a new wardrobe or something, that may ruffle a few feathers, but $169 for a freezer box, I don't think anyone will care.

Its a necessity. Its not like you're buying diamond earrings or something.
