I can't decide if it is relief or complete horror of loss of control...
We filed yesterday. Our lawyer wanted us to get our tax return and spend it on necessities b4 we files, plus that put 2 cash advances passed 90 days. He had stayed current on our payments...I know that was a waste, but our credit has been excellent, although done with smoke and mirrors.
We thinks we are pretty straightforward and he had no concerns. Then why do I??
While I am relieved to have the ball rolling and to stop paying on the cars, personal loan and credit card, I feel like I just handed our life over to a trustee and a lawyer and lost complete control.
The only fears I have are the cash advances and the giving up the 2 vehicles. They are both far upside down and not economical at all. We are hoping to buy 2 less expensive vehicles asap. While I have read about buying $1000 cars or such is a good idea, we drive 35 miles to/from work and need reliable. If our credit was near perfect b4, is there anybody who will touch us after BK? Also, when do you think we will have to 'turn in' our vehicles (Capital One AutoFinance)?
Thanks for this forum, it has been a great source of info!!
