    Offically Filed- Pacer Question

I feel sick to my stomach. I went on to pacer and my atty filed my case yesterday. Boy its a blast of reality. After all this time struggling, avoiding nasty phone calls and procrastinating(5mo) its real!! I have to say I'm soooo nervous.
Is there any advise on using pacer? Should I even look at it? The only thing I understand is that a trustee has not been assigned yet.
When does the court send out the letters to the creditors?
Sorry for all the ?? but I'm a nervous wreck.
    Filed 2/28/07
    341 4/4/07- DONE
    6/7/07- Discharged & CLOSED

Slow down....deep breaths....in...out...lol. All will be fine, nerve wracking as it is. On the Pacer thing, I will tell you from personal experience, I did not have an account on it and I will tell you why. I trusted my lawyer, he's been doing this for over 25 years and is a former trustee. I am also a huge worry wort. I panic at the slightest thing that is changed. So Pacer wasn't a good idea for me, as I knew I would check that sucker daily if not on the hour every hour just to see. If I did that for 4 months I would have driven myself crazy. I do know that you can just pull up your case thingy on there and just look at the dates, if there is no "new date for a filing" or something like that than you know there's been nothing changed, or nothing has come up.

The letters to the creditors will be sent shortly, usually right after filing. If any call you or anything just give them your lawyer's info and smile and say "you have a nice day" and then hang up, and know you won't have to ever deal with that again.

You should get your letter in the mail about a week after your BK was filed. Your Creditors will get the same letter at about the same time. Maybe a day or 2 later depending on mailing time.

Many of the big CC's,........... Chase, BoA, Citi, etc,........... Get notified electronically. So many of your CC's may already know about your BK. In our Court here, the Clerk of the Court mails letters to them as well.

You can check PACER about your BK filing and actually spend very little money.

      http://pacer.psc.uscourts.gov/

When you go to PACER, you'll have to register to gain access. Tool bar at the top of the PACER main page, upper Left, Register. If you use a Debit Card, you can get your log-in ID and password via email. And you can get immediate access. Otherwise, you have to wait for that info to come in the mail, about a week to 10 days or so.

After you get your ID and password, go to Links on the PACER main page. Top toolbar, upper left, next to Register. You'll get a drop down menu.

Select PACER Links. Next page, select BK, upper toolbar to the right.

Then, find your State and District. Click on that link.

Next page, you'll see a Court Seal top center with a Link under it. Click on that link.

Next page, you log in with your User ID and password. Click "log-in" and it will take you to a new page.

In the top toolbar, select Query. Next page, you can enter your BK Case number or SSN and click "run query". It will take you right to the main page of your BK filing.

BK paperwork is posted on PACER in .pdf format so you'll need Adobe Acrobat Reader to open the files.

Make a note of the last date something was filed. That's at the top, center, of the main page of your BK Case. If that date does not change, there's no need to go further looking at stuff about your BK.

If your lucky and your case goes well, there won't be many dates of changes in your BK. When you file. When your Schedules are up loaded, if they weren't posted with the original filing. When your 341 is held. When your Post BK Debtor Ed Cert is filed. When you are Discharged. When your case is closed.

newgirl, I am in the same spot as you if thats any comfort. Ours was filed this past Tuesday and when I saw my name on pacer I also had that sick to my stomach feeling. I felt like I needed a drink to calm my nerves! I had to talk myself down that there was no other choice and everything will be okay. We are'nt hiding anything, we really don't have anything to loose, its going to be okay! Its been 2 days now and the idea is sinking in and I am feeling better.

We'll get thru this and see each other on the other side! I can't wait for June to get here!

Unless yours is a complicated case, there isn't much to check the PACER for.

When you first file, you keep thinking that "oh great. Now the whole world can read about it." After a while, you don't care. You just look forward to the discharge and closing. 341 would come and go. Financial management cert filed... and then the trustee final report... and that eargerly awaited 61st day..

            PACER...great, but hardly user friendly...

For many weeks the only way I could log into PACER was by reporting that I lost my password. Then they'd email the quick link. LOL I think the password that they give out is ridiculous. Try remembering something like this: ^6tyq2rdu

mine was similar and it became old typing it in...

I checked PACER daily and sometimes twice a day for a good month and never incurred any fees. Is there a way to delete my account so they no longer have my debit card info? We are discharged and closed and I am done with the website.

But I'd for sure give it a try! My favorite links were STATUS and then HISTORY.

            ;)

I had to smile at BKTango's post, because that sounds just like me My filing was actually done last Tuesday - only found that out by logging in to my lawyers website and checking status. I've heard so much about PACER, but have a feeling I would be compulsively checking and working myself up into an even worse panic than I am already in!

Granted, I do NOT have the faith in my attorney that Tango does because, at least so far, he hasn't inspired much. Hopefully that will change! But even still, I think I'll stay away from PACER, have a feeling it would make me even more strung out about this than I already am.

              'Course, knowing its there...very tempting...!

Actually, very few regular folk know about PACER. So not many people like us, lay people, would even be poking around there.

Mainly it's attnys, the Court, and Creditors that access PACER, as far as BK Filings go.

So don't worry about anybody and everybody poking their noses into your case online.

You know.... the irony is, filing bk is probably among the most prudent decisions I have made. What an irony... I have a new found appreciation for the system we have. God bless the brave souls who procured and preserved the liberty and freedom we have.
