This BK thing is a totally different "game" for us. Different set of rules. Run out and purchase Money Orders to pay bills. Purchase Cashier's Checks to pay the Landlord our rent.

But I'm not using "game" in a light sort of sense. Rather a descriptive manner.

Our life before was lived one way, and now we live another way.

The money order and cashier check thing is so that there is a limited paper trail of where the cash advance $ went I guess?

I guess if the cash advances are 6 months old, they won't be questioned?

I pulled your post from that old thread and started a new thread, Stores.

Forum Rules specifically prohibit booting old threads. And that's particularly important when you reach back into late 2005, early 2006. There was a mix of Old Law and New Law filers posting here then. The OP of the other thread could have been asking for info relevant to their Old Law filing.

To answer your question about us using Money Orders,........... No, it wasn't to hide where cash was going. We held onto every MO and Cashier's Check receipt. Stapled to the appropriate bill.

At the time we moved to stop Direct Deposit and started using Money Orders to pay bills, we'd quit using and paying on our CC's accts.

Physically taking checks to the bank to deposit them and using the Debit Card and Money Orders was about Control over our money. In case a garnishment were put in place prior to our filing, our bank account would not get caught in the crossfire. And for when we did file BK, we could be sure to time the filing when our bank acct was very low.

If you write a check, you have to wait days to weeks for it to clear. If you purchase Money Orders at Wal-Mart using your Debit Card, you can pay your bills and the money is immediately gone from your bank acct.
