    Motor Vehicle Exemption Question

Does the motor vehicle exemption double on each vehicle when you file C7 jointly? Example:$3500 for each vehicle, filing jointly then would be $7000 for each vehicle.

Depends on the state. Although I really don't think it would be $7000 for each vehicle. Possibly it could be a total of $7000, but most states will say in the exemptions how they can be combined for joint filers.

I agree with Jal. It's not likely you have an Exemption of $3500/vehicle.

You might be allowed 1 vehicle up to $3500 in value.

Or you have a $3500 Vehicle Exemption. No set limit on the number of vehicles. Just the value can't exceed $3500.

Texas allows for 1 vehicle per licensed driver in the family as long as the total amount of Personal Property exempted doesn't exceed $30K/filer or $60K/head of household.

How your Vehicle Exemption is applied really depends on the wording of your State's Statute or Code.
