Change of Deed info on home...

Hi there, I'm new to the board but have been reading a ton of info....I'm thinking of filing Ch. 7. I'm married and I want to file solo- The credit card debt, mortgage and car loan are under my name.

I intend to keep the house and car by reaffirming it.

I would like to know if I should add my spouse to the deed (only) now or should I wait until after I file? Will this somehow jam the works if there is a deed change??

Possibly, Yes.

You have to declare transfer of property within 1 year prior to filing BK.

If you add your spouse's name to the Deed/Title of the house, you've basically given away half ownership of the house. In the BK sense, you transferred half the equity to another party. That could viewed as an attempt to take that equity out of the reach of the Trustee.

Just to be sure,............. Ask attnys as you Consult around. See what they have to say. Attnys better know what is and is not acceptable in your Court.
