    employment history

I know I must submit documentation for any sources of income during the past 6 months to the trustee when I file for Chpt 7.

But the trustee will do a background check on my past employment and not just go by the documentation I submit, correct? In other words, the court will know where and when I worked these past 6 months, as well as what my total gross income is? so they just compare their research to the documentation I submit?

Is this how the process works?

    Thank you,
    Rafe

Attnys are now held liable for their Client's info upon filing. The attny is supposed to be reasonably certain you've told the truth about your circumstance. Attnys may also want documentation on file for potential audits that arise in the future. Some reserve copies of your Credit Reports, past income taxes, bank statements, and such.

Some attnys do indeed do a cursory check of your info. They'll match Credit Reports to employers listed by Clients. Verify your Unemployment payments. That sort of thing.

Generally speaking, unless the Trustee suspects some sort of fraud on your part, or needs to investigate some portion of your BK for some other reason,.......... The Trustee pretty much will rely on documentation supplied by your attny.

It's best that you don't even 'go there', really.

And assume that everything on your petition may be able to verified, somehow, someway, by someone. It'd be a huge risk. If your issue is your income is over the limit, think about reducing it and waiting until you are below median?
