I am considering filing Chapter 7 bankruptcy. My concern is that I have a car that my sister is the co-signer on. I am the primary person responsible and the payments are current but I have been struggling from my load of bills and I have been late in the past. I have never been more than 30 days late on my car note however. How will my filing bankruptcy affect my sister because I do not want my financial situation to negatively affect her. What steps can I take to prevent her from suffering because of my situation?

If you are current on your car payment and wish to keep it, you can. It will not affect her because you can reaffirm on it and continue paying. Do you want to keep the car? If you do not, then your sister will be held responible for the debt. -
