Pacer?

I'm new to this board, and I;ve been reading about "pacer" and its use for checking on the status of bk. How do I get to pacer? What's required, and does it cost anything? What exactly is Pacer?

It gives you updates on your case, which is so nice! It does cost a little but not too bad, 8 cents per billable page.

a site that allows the public to access government records online. You can view filings in your bankruptcy case.

It requires a debit (or credit) card. I understand you are only billed after you accumulate $10.00 or more worth of charges. About 8 cents per view, if I recollect properly, so approximately 96 views before you are charged the ten bucks.

You can also deduce a number of things from the title of the page, rather than viewing the actual page. This will cut down on the "pages downloaded" and save you money.

I have not yet filed, but I am doing so soon. I imagine, because I am a bit paranoid (surprise, surprise to anyone who has read my posts on Big Brother) that I will be spending a fair amount of dough on this.

Pacer = Public Access to Court Electronic Records

You have to goto the website and register, you are sent a password in the mail, it takes about a week. It is not free, it costs 8 cents per page last I knew, and it will bill you quarterly. However, if you keep your total balance under $10, the bill is indefinately deferred until you owe $10, so it is possible to use it a few times without paying.

I asked my bk attorney if I could pay him with acredit card.

He actually said no one had asked him that in years and began laughing.

I thought it would be nice to get one last shot at them.

We paid him with cash.

You don't have to have a debit/credit card. I registered to pay by check. I recieved my logins by mail less then a week after I registered and then I pay by check quarterly.

OK now I need to ask, has anyone bounced a check to PACER. The irony would be to much for me.
