    Finally

My husband finally met with the lawyer! We turned in our paper work and he said he be in touch with us by monday if not we should call him. I can't believe that we are getting this going! We had to do a payment plan with but he told me that if I could pay the rest of the payment to him by August he would charge me the 200 less that he charges if you pay up front. He seems so nice. He even offered me a job as his secretary. Funny huh. Couldn't believe how organized I was. It is almost tempting to take!! But we'll see. i have a little while to think about it. He also said we are looking at August for our 341. seems like a long time to wait. Well hopef ully he calls on Monday i can't wait for the phone calls to stop. He told me I can have them call him but i feel weird answering the phone and saying call my attorney. I guess i just don't want any rude comments.

tmth - congrats and tell the creditors to call your attorney! Once I did that, the calls pretty much stopped. We've got a couple of desperate ones that call every now and then, but it's sooooooooo nice not to have to worry about the darned phone anymore!

      Best of luck toomuchtohandle

Your best bet is to let your answering machine handle these calls. It can get stressful, because a lot of creditors will try and trick you into making statements or will try and guilt trip you on what you owe them.... at least that's what I ran into when I picked up the phone.

If you don't have an answering machine go and get one. Best advice I have right now. You don't have to, nor are you required to talk to them. If they get nasty then you will have it recorded, and can give to your attorney.

      Wish you well !

Another option is personalized ring (I think it's called) through your phone company. It designates a special ring for a specified number of people so that you know who it is before picking up. I don't think you need to subscribe to Caller ID to get it, either. I haven't tried it but heard about it and thought it would be a great solution and cheaper than Caller ID (at least here it is). Good luck and let us know if you take the job... he must have been really impressed!!!

caitybug - our phone system company (Verizon) said I have to have CallerID to use distinctive ring because otherwise, how would it know who's calling.

            tmth,

I second the person who told you to answer the phone and tell them about the BK. After we paid our attorney, they told us to answer the phone and let them know we were filing BK. I didn't do it at first, because I was worried how it would go. I finally got up the nerve and answered.

No one gave me a hard time at all. I just told them that we were in the process of filing BK. They asked me for our attorney name and address and what Chapter were were filing. If they ask for your Docket number just tell them you don't have it yet.

Honestly, every one of them was really nice. A few even wished us well in the future, etc..

Oh my, the quiet has been really great.

Good luck to you with your filing!

I have had a good experience with those that have talked to me while on the phone. Once you file they'll ask for case number, court filed at, chapter, and lawyer info. They have mostly been polite and good.
