I was wondering if I will have to close my checking account at BofA if I file. I have my only income automatically deposited, which is Social Security. If I were to file would the bank take my money? I also have two CC with them totaling about $13,000. Anyone? Thanks.

The question would be this: Do you have any credit card or other debt with this bank in question? If not, you should be ok. Accordingly to my attorney, if Bank of America, you may be ok anyway.Filed Business Chapter 7: 7/11/07

Since you mention having 2 credit cards with them, if you include those credit cards in the bankruptcy they will indeed freeze your checking account and seize assets in it towards the payment of those cards.
What I would suggest opening a new account and then moving your direct deposit to it before filing bankruptcy.May 31st, 2007: Petition Filed by my lawyer

I agree that you should open a new account. I would also wait until your direct deposits started going into the new account before filing. You don't want to take the chance of having all your income frozen.Filed Chapter 7 pro se- 7/24/07
