    charity question

what do you usually put for this question? I don't know quite how do feel this in.. When I go to church I don't tithe but I do put into the plate. The lawyer said girl scouts boy scouts school functions... I guess I have never thought about it.
    Filing January 08.

When a mistake becomes a lesson was it really a mistake?

We also "put into the plate" by giving cash. It would be seen as just plain not right to put in a check or ask for proof of tithing from our church. Seems in their eyes asking for "proof" or receipts is like you only want the tax deduction, ya know.

Anyway, I am not sure yet how that will impact our Chapter 7 as the attorney asked for proof of charitable contributions. I also plan to continue to give and I would hate to hear that religion would be denied by a trustee or court. Curious to know what others think or how they go about getting proof from their church for putting into the plate.

Our church sends a report at the end of the year without us even asking for it. It states all the tithes we gave by check. You could also use the cancelled checks or bank statements for proof.

The bible does say to follow the rules of the land and that includes paying taxes so you might as well take a deduction for it. If your church looks down on it that is there problem. Write a check and keep your canceled checks for proof. '

Giving is allowed but you cannot just all of a sudden do it you have to have a pattern of giving and they will want proof. We had to show proof going back 2 years but they did ask when we started. There is nothing wrong with keeping track of your tithing. There is nothing wrong with taking it as a tax deduction.

As a matter of fax irs rules say you have to have proof of your tithing and the rules just got strictor. You have to have written proof or a canceled check to deduct it and the us trustee will want proof also
