my signing date is set-i have a question

hey yall......the lawyers office just called...and my signing date is scheduled for Friday at 10:30am.....so what happens after that? will that be the same date that the bk is filed?..if not..how long does it take?

This is a question you need to ask your attorney...assuming there are no changes necessary after you review your documents; conceivably, the attorney could e-file your petition the same day. But ultimately, the answer to your question depends on how your attorney runs their office.

In any event, your BK becomes official when it is "filed" with the BK Court Clerk.

My attorney had mine filed electronically the next day but I signed my paperwork the night before.

great..i was just curious since that day is a Friday.....and they close at 12 on Fridays.

If you are signing on Friday at 10:30 am, if there are absolutely no changes needed it's possible it can get squeezed into the court by 12. However don't be suprised if it isn't filed until Monday. In any event as HHM stated, it's official the day it hits the court.
