Median Family Income figures went up yesterday!

New figures for Median Family Income from the government's bankruptcy site:
Official website of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ). DOJ’s mission is to enforce the law and defend the interests of the United States according to the law; to ensure public safety against threats foreign and domestic; to provide federal leadership in preventing and controlling crime; to seek just punishment for those guilty of unlawful behavior; and to ensure fair and

Check out the figures for your state if you haven't filed yet, your figures may have just gotten a whole lot better!

It probably doesn't matter much how FAR you're under the median as long as you're under it. But I was just glad it did not go DOWN!

The jump in California was actually quite small this time around. Apparently they made adjustments to this table on Feb. 1, 07 and October 15, 07. So the key I guess is to always check this table to make sure it hasn't gone up recently or may go up soon. If you don't qualify now, you might qualify at the next change of the figures...

Checking out pacer, most NJ filers were right at or above median and still had successful chapter 7's.
Dont worry yourselves to much if your right at or just below, most 7 filers are it seems.

Wow, NJ has the highest median income in the US, even above CT and NY. It must be from north Jersey, because although my city median is $100K (this is a wealthy area, to bad I'm not..lol!)down furthur south most people I know are making 50-60k, not the $95K like the median family of four on that chart. NJ has an exodus right now because nobody can afford the property and school taxes, let alone insurance is highest in the nation. Also,d one big local employer, a particular aerospace company lays off all the time.
The newly married & elderly are leaving in droves according to the newspaper.
I need to find a new state myself.

Have you really checked into a 13? Depending on your circumstances it MIGHT not be as bad as you think.

My attorney indicated that if we wanted to do a 13 he could get us a deal where we only paid like $120/month for 2 years or something like that. I was quite surprised it would be that "painless" and almost considered doing it. So you may want to at least talk to a good attorney who does a lot of 13's before flying the coop outta here.

Yeah I was going to ask if I don't get a 7. I wouldn't mind just leaving everything if I get tired of it all. Just don't want creditors following me years later.
