Does the U.S. trustee ever attend the 341 meeting?
Any other groups besides the local trustee and creditors ever attend 341 meetings? Thanks for your help.

Yes, the US Trustee can attend the 341 meeting.

At our first 341, someone from the state tax office came to find out why we didn't file a state return (we're military and only have to file in our home state). That's the only person that came to ours. At the second one, after we converted, no one was there. We have a third one (converted back), in December, so we shall see who comes.

My atty told me that if the US trustee gets involved in the beginning of your case, thats a very bad sign. So, if they are at your 341 and want more info right away, I would assume that's a red flag. However each case is different I guess.

I'd be nervous if the UST showed at the 341. Ours objected about a week after the 341, but did not actually come to it (the first one).
