    Does any one know if you can still take a deduction for the interest that you paid on your mortgage even if you surrender the house. (like for the first half of the year)

    I don't see why not..you did pay it.

      Any mortgage interest that you paid is still deductible.

        I hope so! We were still Landlords until this past July when we evicted our renters, so I'm hoping that we can still file a Schedule C for that.

          ...and you still use expenses, depreciation, etc for the time you still owned the property on the sch. C.

          This is the time the tenants not paying rent comes in handy. Less income.
