Finally Filed...it's a done deal.....

Just came from my lawyer's office....had to sign all paperwork.....she did file electronically. My heart was beating so hard in there while she was ensuring everything was correct. Now i'm just waiting for my 341 date to be assigned...thanks so much for all your help....now the hard part....i know my apt complex will not let me stay there...because they are listed in my BK......so i have to find somewhere to go....

Your apt complex is listed in your bk as in you're listing them as a debt to be discharged? Or are they just listed on the "unexpired leases" section?

If it's just the unexpired leases thing, I wouldn't worry. I live in one of those big, corporate-managed complexes, and had to list them as an unexpired lease. I went into the office and paid my rent with a money order, and told them I was filing for bk and that was why I had to pay that way that month, so it wasn't sitting in my account on my filing date. They said ok, thanks, and I haven't heard another word about it.

Just be upfront about your situation with them, so they find out from you, not in a notice from the court.

But if you're discharging debt to them, I'm sure that's another matter.

Yep...discharging debt..they are included in my BK.....

Ouch, I was afraid that might be the case. I hope you find an even better place to live. I've read here to try individuals that are renting out a home, "mom & pop" type landlords, they are less likely to care about a bankruptcy than management companies.

Congrats on filing, anyway, it will go faster than you think, mine's almost over. Thank god!
